Cave Lake State Park is located in Central-Eastern Nevada, just 8 miles south of Ely, NV on US HWY 93. It is perhaps best renowned for excellent fishing but provides many wonderful recreational opportunities, including boating, water sports, hiking, and camping. Winter activities are also popular and include ice skating, ice fishing, and cross-country skiing.

The reservoir has an abundant natural population of German brown trout but is also stocked regularly with rainbow trout and other species. Record-sized 14-15 lb browns were caught on separate occasions in 2013.

The area around the lake is characterized by pinions and juniper trees, shallow caves, and narrow canyons. Wildlife is plentiful, and visitors have the opportunity to view bobcats, coyotes, elk, muledeer, mountain lions, eagles, hawks, and many species of lizards and snakes.

Designated campgrounds with amenities are offered starting in early May at Elk Flat Campground and Lake View Campground. Camping is first come first serve and is payable per vehicle upon arrival. The park also offers Mongolian-style yurt camping and visitors may contact the park directly with inquiries.
