Cedar City is a surprisingly cool mountain town in astonishing proximity to the Grand Circle’s scenic wonders of Zion, Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks, Grand Canyon, and Great Basin. Cedar City is also known as Festival City, USA, mostly due to being home to the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival. There’s a plethora of events taking place all year-round from parades, bike races, downtown fairs, even a sheep parade! Historic Downtown is quaint with local shops, eateries, galleries, southern Utah’s premier winery, and a microbrewery. Cedar City is only a few minutes from the Kolob Canyons of Zion and Brian Head Ski Resort-Utah’s highest base elevation ski resort. Cedar Breaks National Monument is an International Dark Sky Park, a place where you can marvel at the skies above with some of the best visibility on the planet. Nearby Parowan Gap Petroglyphs houses one of Utah’s largest collections of ancient Native American art and is the easiest visit; it’s a few miles off the Interstate. Paved trails weave the perimeter of Cedar City that connects you to miles of recreational paths for mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, and off-roading. You literally can step outside your hotel and be on a trail within minutes.
